Where I've Traveled and Lived
My travels with the International Planetarium Society and the Southwestern Association of Planetarium have taken me around the world to conferences and viewing sites. My work with the American Field Service Student Exchange Program has given me the opportunity to visit HPHS exchange students all over the world. Camping in National and State Parks with my family and seven grandchildren has given us a view of America. Countries I have especially enjoyed have been to Japan, China, Nepal, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Russia, Austria (our AFS daughter lives there with her family), Mexico, U.K., Singapore (best hands-on Science Center), Canada, Hawaii (Mauni Kea Observatory), and hopefully Egypt and Australiz/New Zealand in the very near future. I've walked some of the wall in China, picked cloudberries near the Artic Circle, watched a solar eclipse from Helsinki, lived in Kuala Lumpur one summer with son and his family, viewed meteor showers in Greece, flew over Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq after 9 1 1 (and luckily lived to write about it), visit McDonald Observatory at Ft. Davis each year to attend Board Meetings and viewed through our large optical telescopes, climbed into a radio dish in New Mexico, flew over Mt. Everest, and wanted to be the Teacher In Space. Now I wish I could visit Mars!
